Mid-July

We went on a hike in Lake Wissota State Park.  Unfortunately, the mosquitos were *insane*.  The kids and I had bug spray but that only slowed them down.  John didn't have any and was *covered* with them.  We ended up almost running back to the car.

Here's Jack being goofy by one of the flowers in our yard (that the deer didn't eat).

Alec and Jack are really getting into playing together without mommy.  Jack cracks him up and Jack loves the audience.  Alec is also turning into quite the mimic.  He mostly copies whatever Jack does but he will also copy mommy or daddy.  He will make some animal sounds, but mostly just moos.  He will see a cow and start mooing.  He will sit in his carseat and moo away.  He will sometimes so other animal sounds, but mostly cows (go figure...we do live in Wisconsin after all).  I keep forgetting to mention this but he can snap.  He's been able to snap for months.  It is so bizarre to see a toddler snapping his fingers.  He is getting pretty good at communicating and definitely gets his intention across.  He has also started to get interested in peeing in the potty.  He has gone several times in the little potty and on the potty seat.  He is quite proud of himself.  Mommy is proud, too.
Jack seems to be getting out of his 3-year-old-ness.  He listens to his mommy better than when he just turned 3.  He has quite an imagination, much better than mine.  He is still really into dragons and dinosaurs.  He will go into the outside-room and build all kinds of things with his duplo legos.  He loves doing puzzles.  He is getting really excited about going to school in a month.
