Busy August

August is pretty busy so far.

Corn is getting in season so we've been eating it a bit.  Alec loves it.  He eats it right off the cob.

I bought Jack more duplo lego.  He is really into building things now.  So they came in a box from Amazon.  Of course they wanted to play with the box and not the new duplos.

We went to National Night Out.  It's a Police outreach thing for kids.  There were a ton of games.  The kids got a bag full of candy.  They also got to get in some police cars.  They had a great time.

PBS Kids had a big "Get up and Go" kids expo across the state.    They had lots of games that encouraged physical activity.  Alec was a bit young for much of it but still enjoyed it.  Jack did everything.  Different PBS characters were in different cities.  We got Clifford.  This was fantastic because Jack *loves* Clifford.  We check out his books from the library and he watches Clifford and Puppy Clifford on tv a lot.  We got there super early so that we were sure to see Clifford.  Jack was so excited.  Then when it opened we looked all over for Clifford.  We were the first ones to find him.  Then Jack was too scared to go see him.  He hid behind me and wouldn't go near him.  Finally, at the end when we were ready to go, Jack found him and gave him a hi-5.  He was so happy.

Alec was *done* after that.

We went to Como Zoo in St. Paul for a MOMS Club field trip.  We had never been there, but, as you can guess, we love zoos.  Plus it was free.  Here are the kids on the carousel.

The polar bears were very active.  This one was playing with something in the water right by the glass.

Alec was so excited to see the giraffes.  At the last 2 zoos we went to, you could feed the giraffes so Alec kept holding out his hand to the giraffes hoping they'd come over.

We bought 2 kayaks off Craigslist.  On Saturday, John took Jack out.

Then I went out with Jack.

On Saturday it was "Pure Water Days" in Chippewa Falls.  There was a parade and a little fair.

They threw a lot of candy, but Alec liked the free water the best.

Alec had to go in the tree because Jack was up there.

Today, we both went out in the kayaks with the kids.  I had Alec.  He didn't really like the life jacket or getting water on him from the paddle.  He really liked being in the boat and looking around.  He sat really well, but had to be in my lap.  It was a bit difficult to paddle.

Jack went with John.  They had a great time.  Jack loves being in the boat.  He sits nicely and wears his life jacket (even in the house).  They wanted to go more, but Alec was done.
