Visiting Great-Grandma

Alec hadn't met Great-Grandma Lalish yet so we went down over President's Day weekend.  We went down Friday.  We got to see Great-Grandma for a few hours every day.  The kids played while we talked.  On Saturday, we drove to the Field Museum in downtown Chicago.  We got in free with the year pass we bought at our Children's Museum in Eau Claire.  We spent most of the time in the dinosaur rooms, of course.

When we first arrived, Jack was scared of Sue the T. Rex but by the end he would go up to it.  He was afraid of the Mammoth skeleton too but he liked all the others.

Amazing view of the skyline from one of the dinosaur rooms.

Jack would not stop watching this cartoon.  He kept running back and pushing the button to watch it again.  He had to *drag* him away.

Stegosaurus!

Jack's favorite: Triceratops or "t-hop-hops" or "terra-hop-hops"

We also saw some of the mammals.

A brisk walk to lunch.  Alec kept dozing off on the way back.

John had to carry the back-pack and Jack some of the way to speed things along.  He wasn't all that happy about it.

Grandma and Grandpa drove up to see us on Saturday.  They had just driven back from Sara's house in South Carolina the previous day.  Jack was happy to see them.  Alec was being crabby-pants.

It was Great-Grandma's 89th birthday.  We got her some flowers since Alec had destroyed some of her fake ones. Jack helping with the cake.

Alec eating some cake.

We ate lunch with Leanne and her husband Michael.  The kids were really good and Jack had a great time talking to Michael.

We ended up driving back Sunday night since there was a big storm coming.  The kids slept almost the whole way so we got home really fast.  It was nice to have a day to relax after all the excitement.
