Birthday Weekend

On Saturday, Jack turned 2 years old!  We can't believe how fast time has flown.  He is such a big boy.
We celebrated by going to Bates Nut Farm Pumpkin Patch.  They grow huge pumpkins.

They also have a petting zoo which Jack enjoyed.  They actually had bunnies running around with mini goats, a pot bellied pig, ducks, and mini chickens.    They had pony rides but we thought Jack may be a bit young for that.

He really liked the tractor ride around the straw maze.  He wore his tractor shirt for it.

We didn't ride the horse-pulled wagon but he liked seeing the big horses.

He had his favorite food for lunch...macaroni and cheese!  He had a long nap after all that excitement so we just went to the park in the afternoon.  We also opened his presents.  He had a lot of fun playing with all his presents.  So far, his favorite toy has been matchbox trucks.  He has carried at least one of them in his hand ever since.  He even sleeps with one.

We had dinner at a meatball place and had spaghetti and garlic bread, which is probably Jack's second favorite dinner (after mac and cheese, of course).  After dinner we sang Happy Birthday and ate cupcakes.  He even blew out his candles.

He usually won't even try cake at other kids' birthday parties but he liked his cupcake.  He ate 1/2 of it.

The next day was really warm so we went to La Jolla Cove.  He wore his new hat from Nana and Granddad.  It is amazing that he wore it the whole time we were out since he usually *hates* things on his head.  We got to see a lot of sea lions making a lot of noise and being silly.  Usually we have one or two but there were 15-20 of them.  Jack also got to play in the sand for a little while.  Then for dinner we ate at a Chicago deep dish place.  It has the best stuffed pizza we have had outside of Illinois.  Jack of course enjoyed eating the pepperoni and crust.

Jack had a very eventful and fun weekend!

He also transitioned to his 2 year old room.  He loves it.  He wouldn't let daddy take him home on friday because he was having too much fun.  Daddy had to wait 20 minutes.  Monday morning, mommy was planning on spending time there when dropping him off but he jumped down and ran over to the toys and didn't look back.  Lots of change and excitement but he's dealing with it really well!
